Protein, Fiber and the Case for Steadier Energy
July 21, 2026 · 5 min read
Before changing anything else about how you eat, look at what your first two meals of the day are actually built from.
When someone tells me their energy collapses at three in the afternoon, we rarely start with supplements. We start with breakfast and lunch.
Two components do most of the work: protein, which supports satiety and muscle maintenance, and fiber, which slows how quickly a meal arrives in your bloodstream. Meals built around both tend to produce steadier energy than meals built around refined carbohydrate alone.
This is not a low-carbohydrate argument. Carbohydrate is useful, especially around training. The point is composition — what accompanies it.
A practical target for most adults is a solid protein source at every meal and produce at two of them. That single change alters the shape of the day more than most people expect.
