Muscle supports mobility, posture, metabolic health and confidence. It is also the thing most easily lost through inaction.
If you could keep only one habit through the next thirty years, resistance training would be a strong candidate. Muscle supports how you move, how you carry yourself and how capable you feel.
It is also reversible in both directions. Muscle is lost through disuse and rebuilt through consistent, progressive loading — at essentially any age, though the pace differs.
The requirement is smaller than most people assume. Two or three sessions a week covering pushing, pulling, hinging, squatting and carrying will do far more than an elaborate program you abandon.
Progress here shows up in ordinary places first: stairs, luggage, standing up from the floor. Those are the outcomes worth tracking.
